Cathie registered ARK Investment Management LLC (“ARK”) as an investment adviser with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in January 2014. With over 40 years of experience identifying and investing in innovation, Cathie founded ARK to focus solely on disruptive innovation while adding new dimensions to research. Through an open approach that cuts across sectors, market capitalizations, and geographies, Cathie believes that ARK can identify large-scale investment opportunities in the public markets resulting from technological innovations centered around DNA sequencing, robotics, artificial intelligence, energy storage, and blockchain technology. As Chief Investment Officer (“CIO”) and Portfolio Manager, Cathie led the development of ARK’s philosophy and investment approach and has ultimate responsibility for investment decisions.
Prior to ARK, Cathie spent twelve years at AllianceBernstein as CIO of Global Thematic Strategies where she managed over $5 billion. Cathie joined Alliance Capital from Tupelo Capital Management, a hedge fund she co-founded, which in 2000, managed approximately $800 million in global thematic strategies. Prior to her tenure at Tupelo Capital, she worked for 18 years with Jennison Associates LLC as Chief Economist, Equity Research Analyst, Portfolio Manager and Director. She started her career in Los Angeles, California at The Capital Group as an Assistant Economist. Cathie received her Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude, in Finance and Economics from the University of Southern California in 1981.
Cathie has been recognized as an influential fund manager across various outlets. In 2018, editors at Bloomberg acknowledged Cathie by selecting her to its second annual Bloomberg 50 list of people across business, entertainment, finance, politics, technology, and science who have defined global business. Additionally, Fortune named Cathie to its exclusive roundtable of experts in the annual Fortune Investors Guide: The Best Investing Advice for 2019 From Fortune’s Experts. In 2016, Cathie received the “Women in Finance – Outstanding Contribution Award” from Market Media. Cathie also has been a featured speaker at the World Economic Forum (China) in 2016 & 2017, the World Strategic Forum (Miami) in 2017, The Sohn Hearts and Minds Investment Leaders Conference (Australia) in 2018 and 2019, and Singularity University’s Exponential Finance in 2017 and Global Summit in 2019.
In 2018, Cathie launched the Duddy Innovation Institute at her alma mater, Notre Dame Academy in Los Angeles. The institute offers a challenging educational experience for young women eager to stretch their learning beyond the boundaries of traditional acquisition of knowledge, while influencing a new way of thinking and learning throughout campus.

Kellen began his career at the U.S Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) as a Securities Compliance Examiner at the Office of Compliance, Inspections, and Examinations (“OCIE”) in the SEC’s New York regional office. After OCIE, Kellen was an Attorney-Adviser in the SEC’s Division of Investment Management’s Risk and Examinations Office. Subsequently, Kellen was a Management Consultant at Ernst & Young, LLP in the Wealth and Asset Management group. Kellen received his Bachelor of Science in Human and Organizational Development with a concentration in International Development from Vanderbilt University and his Juris Doctorate degree from Howard University School of Law. Before State Street, he was an Assistant Vice President for Putnam Investments in Boston for almost five years, covering Compliance, Risk Reporting and Financial Reporting. Prior to ARK, Pierce received his B.S. in Biology from Texas A&M and subsequently attended the Texas A&M Institute for Plant Genomics and Biotechnology for his graduate studies. There he enjoyed a multidisciplinary training and published several papers, reviews, and commentaries in the field of molecular plant pathology. Pierce’s research interests included the pervasive plant and human pathogen Fusarium oxysporum, as well as the effects of per- and polyfluoroalkyl contaminants on plant physiology and development. Pierce also started a small hedge fund before working at ARK which focused on the rapidly evolving Ethereum blockchain/ecosystem and decentralized finance space.

Prior to joining ARK, Mark was Head of Strategy and Innovation at WPP, where he set out a robust Strategic Technology operating model that spanned core technologies, collaboration, identity, and cloud services. He developed and launched Cloud Studio, a virtualized creative desktop and storage platform. Prior to WPP, Mark served as Global Chief Information Officer at Wunderman and Principal Solutions and Enterprise Architect at Coretech, both WPP companies. One of the defining moments of Mark’s career was co-founding Hogarth Worldwide. Mark built this business into a highly successful $300 million global enterprise that resulted in its acquisition by WPP. He pulled on his technical engineering and creative background to design, develop and launch a new ‘studio in a box’ concept and built 30 post-production studios across the globe. Mark also created and commercialized ZONZA, a Digital Asset Management and delivery solution, and FIDO production platform, the first software tool that managed integrated advertising campaigns. Before Diamond Hill, Michael worked at a boutique digital marketing agency called The Media Captain where he led two client accounts, shot and edited video and photos, and managed a blog. He also worked as a client-facing portfolio manager, developing and maintaining institutional and high-net-worth client relationships. Matt joined ARK in February of 2022 as a member of the Trading Team. He has over 20 years of buy side equity trading experience, beginning at SAC Capital (now Point72 Asset Management). In 2000, Matt joined Allianz Global Investors in New York City as Vice President and was primarily responsible for the trading of their mid cap and large cap value strategies. In 2007, he joined Goldman Sachs Asset Management as Vice President within their Central Trading Desk team with a primary focus on equity trading for the Fundamental Equity growth strategies. He later joined Logan Circle Partners (a Fortress Investment Group company) in Tampa as Head of Trading, leading the newly formed group in their trading and operations efforts and infrastructure. Harry has worked in the securities industry for over 23 years. He began his career with Vanguard Brokerage and Fleet Securities trading both Fixed Income and Equities. In 2002, Harry joined The Bank of New York Capital Markets trading desk and in 2005 was appointed Managing Director and Head of Institutional Trading and Sales. As ARK’s Chief Operating Officer, Tom manages and oversees the daily operations of the firm, screens financial markets for new opportunities, and evaluates and implements ARK’s product portfolio. Tom joined ARK in June 2014 and was responsible for building out ARK’s trading desk, trade integrations, and day-to-day ETF operations. He later became Head of Product Development and led the launch of additional ARK investment solutions in the US and overseas.
Prior to joining ARK, Tom worked in a sales and consulting role for WILX. Prior to WILX, Tom interned at Fidelity Investments in its mutual fund department and consulted on millennial investing behavior at TIAA-CREF. Prior to ARK, Ali conducted clinical cancer research at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the Montefiore Medical Center; and was a Senior Research Program Manager at IBM Watson Health. Prior to ARK, Katie was the Managing Editor of Science, Technology, and Human Values (SAGE), a peer-reviewed journal in the interdisciplinary field of science and technology studies. Before joining ARK, Paul was Chief Financial Officer for ORIX’s U.S. business with approximately $80 billion of assets under management, administration, and servicing, including $10 billion held on the balance sheet. At ORIX, Paul held positions on the U.S. Board of Directors and its significant subsidiaries in corporate finance, M&A advisory, real estate, and private and public equities. He is a CPA with extensive M&A, tax, corporate development, treasury experience. Before joining ORIX, Paul worked in public accounting with Ernst and Young.
